Basilicata: Matera and beyond
Six days in Basilicata.
Day 1
Arrival at the airport and welcome by our team. Transfer to hotel, around Matera.
Day 2
Visit Matera, the city of “Sassi” and first UNESCO site in Southern Italy.
Set of many Hollywood films such as “007 James Bond: “NO TIME TO DIE”.
After the visit you will be treated to a tasting of the fragrant local bread by a master baker.
Day 3
Visit to Venosa, the city of Horace, with a focus on the medieval Church of the Holy Trinity, known as the “Incompiuta”. Afterwards, we will stop at a winery to taste the excellent local Aglianico wine. Then we visit Melfi and the castle of Frederick II.
Day 4
A hike through the Lucanian Dolomites from Castelmezzano to Pietrapertosa. With the possibility to participate in the adrenaline-filled “Flight of the Angel”.
Day 5
In the morning visit to Tursi and the Rabatana, Saracen district, and in the afternoon the ghost town of Craco, abandoned in 1963 following a landslide.
Day 6
Transfer and return.
